A talk by Eddie Smallwood
| Mancetta or Manuessedum overlooked the crossing point of the River Anker by Watling Street and was the site of an early Roman Fort and Vicus. Recent excavations have revealed much of the fort. The talk will detail the significance of these and why Mancetta is the most likely site of the final battle between the Roman General Paulinus and Boudica following her revolt and the burning of Roman towns in the south east of the province.
A cash bar and nibbles will be available. The talk will follow the AGM at around 7:45. I you only want to come for the talk you are welcome to arrive for 7:45 |
