A Talk by Sarah Richardson

Covid-19 restrictions mean that we can no longer hold this meeting face-to-face.  The talk will instead by given online by Professor Richardson.  To access the talk you will need a link which will be emailed to members a day or so before the talk.  If you are not a member, or not on our email distribution list for newsletters, then please send an email to nick.holmes9@gmail.com to register your interest

This talk will uncover some of the fascinating characters and their stories as women struggled against the political establishment to win the argument for female enfranchisement. The women used a wide range of tactics such as boycotting the 1911 census, challenging voter registration as well as more militant methods. This talk will demonstrate the movement involved ordinary men and women across the county – including Lapworth!
